Ephphatha 11 - Mar Baselios College

"Ephphatha 11", a one day was organised by the Jesus Youth of ' Mar Baselios College group' for all the youth of our college. This was the first initative by our college 'jesus youth' group. It was held at the college it self,Trivandrum on the 30th January, 2011 from morning 8.45am- 4.30pm. Around 160 youth attended the program(including some students from other colleges).

Aux. Bishop SAMUEL IRENIOS KATTUKALLI, Mr.Tomas Micheal , Mrs. Soney Noble and Fr Rev Fr Wilson Thattaruthundil (our bursar)were the main resources for the program.

Aux. Bishop SAMUEL IRENIOS KATTUKALLI spoke to the youth with an good talk and also blessed us with his presence for the inauguration.

The music ministry really kept the participants tapping their feet.
Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr Rev Fr Wilson Thattaruthundil .

A good session in the morning was taken by Mr.Tomas micheal about the topic “Love of Jesus”
And a good afternoon session was taken by Mrs. Soney Noble about “Jesus youth and our campus”
In preparation of this program, the Jesus Youth of our college had round the clock intercession for 2 weeks, which we believe was the
backbone of the success of the program. As the participants left the hall in the evening, they were really filled with the joy of the Lord. Our faith has surely strengthened. We enjoyed the whole day with our lord jesus in prayers and happyness.

Its been a great blessing for all of us as Archbishop has given us special sanction to have a late evening mass at Vellayambalam Chruch at 7.30 PM Mon-Fri. This late evening mass is mainly inteded to those who have odd working hours and miss their daily mass. We encourage all Jesus Youth to be at Vellayambalam church on week days to join this Eucharistic Celebration.

We have about 35-40 people regularly attending this Holy Mass.

Late Evening Mass - Trivandrum

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ

It’s been a long time desire of many to have a late evening daily Holy Mass in Trivandrum. Many have suggested that due to their long working hours, especially those working in Technopark, is hindering the Daily Mass. Considering this we have approached the RC (Latin) diocese of Trivandrum. Archbishop Rev. Dr. Soosa Pakiam has taken special interest in our request and assigned Parish Priest of Vellayambalam to take this forward.

The tentative time fixed for evening Mass is 7.30 PM from Monday to Friday at St. Therese of Lisieux church, Vellayambalam.
Now since the initiative of this daily mass is from Jesus Youth of Trivandrum, we have to really support this initiative and should encourage maximum people to attend this Mass.
Please send in your comments on this initiative as we need to fix a date to start this Daily Mass.

Lent has begun!

Dear Friend,

Lent has started now. 40 days of intense fasting and prayer.
I wish you all the best to observe this lent meaningfully.

Lenten fasts have a tendency to be oriented toward things like giving up food or television.
But there are many other creative ways we can welcome Jesus' healing touch this Lent.

Below are some suggestions you may want to consider and tell others too:

Fast from:
Anger and Hatred:
Give your family and everyone you come across ,an extra dose of love Each day.

Judging Others:
Before making any judgments, recall how Jesus overlooks our faults.

Discouragement:
Hold on to Jesus' promise that He has a perfect plan for your life.

Complaining:
When you find yourself about to complain, close your eyes And recall some of the little moments of joy Jesus has given you.

Resentment or Bitterness:
Work on forgiving those who may have hurt you.

I pray for you during this special Season of Grace.
May God give you more Grace.

I am sending you this, so that you may benefit by reading this and make use of this message in for many occasions

Note: The number forty has many Biblical references: the forty days Moses spent on Mount Sinai with God (Exodus 24:18); the forty days and nights Elijah spent walking to Mount Horeb (1 Kings 19:8); God made it rain for forty days and forty nights in the days of Noah (Genesis 7:4); the Hebrew people wandered forty years traveling to the Promised Land (Numbers 14:33); Jonah in his prophecy of judgment gave the city of Nineveh forty days in which to repent (Jonah 3:4).

It’s been a four days of fun and joy with little kids of Trivandrum. The retreat for little kids was organized as a part of retreat led by Fr. Benny Mudanad at Lourdes Forane Church PMG.

The sessions were mostly handled by Sibi, Justy, Princy, Sonia & Benoj

Lord was teaching us to be like children.
Even though it was fun… we had some tough time running behind few…

We Thank God for these beautiful children and how they have been blessed in this younger age with such fellowships.

Couples Gathering - Animation Center

The music team was lead by Saji, Boban Chettan, Tomy and Nileena.
Dr. Priya and Daisy Aunty shared some beautiful insights to lead a Holy Family life.
Praise worship was led by our Martin. The program ended with introduction to South Asia Conference by Jose Olickal from central team.

Next couples gathering is tentatively fixed for Dec 9th, 2nd Sunday.

Our Experience...

Our experience in Trivandrum youth convention

When we takes a look back on the audio visual activities we did for the Trivandrum youth convention we can clearly say that it was lead by our loving Jesus. It is not a singular God experience but a series of experiences. Let me share how God made us to do that things.

One day morning I was about to go to office George (asst coordinator of TVM zone) called me and said that you will be the coordinator of the audio visual team for the convention. I was shocked a little because he is asking me to do something for around 1500 youth ( a big portion of them are not Jesus youth ). And you know I’ve absolutely no idea what is an audio visual team is. But gradually I understood... no God taught me that it is not relevant that who does but only God needs a tool. By his grace it was our team.

On that day itself Vimal chettan( TVM zone coordinator ) asked me to arrange a meeting for both audio visual and music team. At that times Anu chechy (from medical college) was the music ministry coordinator. Our loving God arranged that meeting with a good collection of audio visual and music recourses. We gathered in one the of JY shelters in Trivandrum ( the home of Saira chechy ). I know very clearly that I did nothing. But the discussions were very active and we got some clear steps on what is next action, from there we got a powerful team. From that I studied that if we are ready to offer or what to say the willingness to untie like a wheat seed then the fruits will be wonderful.

If I’m writing all the things that God helped through these activities I don’t think that I can complete. Even let me say something about the building of team. It was the direct intervention of the Holy Spirit. I’m telling so because I’m new to TVM Jesus youth. I know only Geroge because we are working on the same company.

By the help (Both prayer and presence) of many good Jesus youth like George, Vimal chettan, Vipin chettan, Jeena chechy, Shimmy chettan, Anu checy, Saira chechy we formed as a good team and got a strong foundation.

From there it was a spirit motivated Group. It moved by breaking all the expectations that means in the case of script, artists prayer and all. I was in my home at thrissur because of fever at the crucial time and it went very well without the coordinator, which proved it was lead only by the Holy Spirit.

I think I should say something about some resources in this team. First abut Vipin chettan from the central team, he came to Trivandrum for his personal affairs and we met in a hotel. We managed to be there about 1 hour with a cup of tea ;). And it was the first script. We the team heard the script and Vipin chetan stepped out from the hotel and prayed in the public road side. That was a wonderful experience.

Comes Deepthi chechy it was also another accident. She was very busy till I call her to help AV ministry. Once I called for this purpose, she said I couldn’t do anything for this convention and I should do this. And it was she and is she, who cares the AV team even now as an elder sister, and her prayer support also with the team now.

Danish also from the central team, he is from my parish at Thrissur also gave us a big support and it was through him the light to the two skits are given. He is really a gifted person and all of them are very much utilized for this event.

Watson joined in to the audio visual team by a wrong call. And till now he seems one of the pillars of the team. It proves nothing but the intervention of the Holy Spirit,

Like these many many resources came to the team and all they did their Job very well and over all it worked as one many hearts and one beat…

Zonal One Day - September 1st at Lourdes Church

ONE DAY PROGRAM OF JESUS YOUTH IN CET

The core members of College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET) decided to have a one day program for the college and planned for it at August 11, 2007 at 9:15 am. The core members and others who are performing came at the right time. Students started coming from 9:15 to 9:45. Music group started their songs by 9:30 am. By 10:00am, Sanjoy (Techno Park) started his talks and taught some good action songs to the awaiting group. They were exciting and gave an ice-breaking effect to them. Then came rejoicing songs from the music group. After this, there was a good session from Shimmy chetan (elder) about God’s love for about an hour. Then after a short break of music, our next session came.Fr. James (Pallottigiri) took the session for another hour. Lunch break was the next (between 1:00pm to 1:30pm). After the break, fabulous treat of music was there, which was accompanied by panel sharing. Panel sharing was conducted mainly by the Techno Park JYs (Sanjoy, Teena, and Liya), Jesty (ex-full timer).There was a testimony from Jeswint of our college CET. After all these, the program ended with an Adoration led by Jesty and Renow (CET).The vicar of the church, Fr.Thomas helped in Adoration. In all there were 30 students from CET throughout the day. Then there were others who came from Techno Park and UCK.Music group was led by Anila, Merrin, Maria (all 3 from UCK) and Jeswint (CET). Our zonal full timer Princy was MC for the program. Piyush and Derrick did the arrangements for the food.Neenu, Steffy, Ann Mary, Anu, Girly and Janet (all 6, core of CET, JY) interceded for the program before and while during the program. By God’s grace, everything was well and good and the program has touched all of those who came there.

Thanks to all who worked and prayed for the program. Hope this will make the Jesus Youth of CET stronger and also that this will motivate and encourage other Jys in Tvm too. God has made each and everything very beautiful. All thanks and praise to Jesus Christ. God bless. Praise the Lord.

Youth Alive - Jan 2007 Youth Convention

It was the fruit of almost 2 to 3 years of prayer. Now when we look back on how the Youth Alive Catholic convention transformed the lives of almost 2000 young people we can’t but praise the Glorious name of Jesus.

It all began when Elvis Chettan lead a retreat at the Benzigar Memorial Hall, Vazhuthacaud a couple of years back. Then a message of the Lord revealed His will for a youth convention in Trivandrum Zone. This was an approval from the Lord for a long cherished dream.

Youth Alive took place on 26, 27 & 28 January 2007 at Mar Ivanios college. About 2000 youth attended from 9am-5pm while about 600 of them stayed behind at the venue. Separate sessions were conducted after 6.00pm for those who stayed back.

The sessions were handled by Thankachayan, Fr Benny Mundanatt, Fr. Varghese Parakkal, Dr. Priya Alencheri, Dr. Cessal, Thomas Michael, Shaji Vaikkathuparambil, Saji Arakulam.

The Blessings and prayers of Rt. Rev. Dr. M. Soosai Pakiam, Arch Bishop, Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese, was a chief event of the opening day. The challenging and inspiring talk delivered by his Excellency indeed moved the hearts of many. His Excellency asked the Youth of the present day to lead a live not merely listeners of the word of God, but to put them into practice. His Excellency expressed heartfelt joy in seeing so many youth gathered to hear and experience the Power and love of Jesus.

The major session of the 1st day was Man’s search for God lead by Thankachayan. Thomas Michael shared how the loving heart of God is in constant search of man in the 2nd major session. Holy mass was celebrated by Fr. Sony, Asst. Parish priest Lourdes Forane Church, Trivandrum.

Second day was devoted to repentance and inner healing. Fr. Freddy Solomon, youth director of Tvm Latin Arch Diocese expressed his joy and surprise listening to the heartfelt confession of many youth who have never approached the confessional for years. Fr. Varghese Parakkal led the young people into a session of sin and repentance followed by adoration and confession. Talk and media presentation on sexuality and inner healing by Dr. Priya Alnechery was an informative and challenging session. The day concluded with Fr. Benny Mundanatt leading a session on inner healing followed by Holy Mass and Inner healing Adoration. By now the young faces started lighting up and bowed heads started looking up.

The third day began with a thunderbolt session by Shaji Vaikkathuparamibil. He went into the depths of youth life and shared many of his own personal experiences which revealed God’s work in a human begins. A panel sharing was led by Dr. Cessal who interviewed Seenu chechi, Shimmy chettan, Sonia, Agnel and Stalin. All of them revealed how God lead them through the ups and downs of life. A Media presentation on Holy Eucharist prepared the youth for the Holy Mass consecrated by Fr. Freddy, Fr. Varghese Parackal etc
Fr. Varghese led the Holy Spirit anointing prayers. When he asked who all felt joy after the anointing prayer every single young person put up their hands.

The Audio Visual ministry deserves a special comment. They began from nothing a week ago. The lord finally anointed them and used them so powerfully that the skit on Evangelization made many of the participants to offer their lives for Christ. Danish we just want to say we are proud of you. Tito your skill has added to the splendor of the event.

Music ministry too did their job in the best way. There were about 40 volunteers in all to control and guide these 2000 people. They were all deeply praying always as they helped in smooth functioning of the convention. Sanal Chettan of KCYM expressed his surprise at the perfect coordination. He told He could feel the powerful presence of God’s hands among the volunteers. Sarovodya School Principal Fr. Varkey expressed his surprise to see the volunteers taking initiative in doing big and small things without any ones prompting.

And there was one person beyond compare behind all these. He is Fr. Samuel Kattukallil, Principal, Mar Ivanious College. He became our constant support and guide and so is Sr. Animus whose prayerful prayers and thoughts fullness aided us in many critical situations.

Well, as I wind up I wish to add just one more thing….

When there was sufferings and pain in the initial days of the planning and mobilization we never knew that the Lord has such a great feast ready for us. How little are our sufferings pain and fatigue when compared to this powerful expression of Abba Daddies love!! If only we had known this, how much more we would have readily suffered. How much more should we allow our faces to be tanned and body weakened…

How many more days we would have fought with sleep in font of the Blessed Sacrament… sleepless nights for Vimal chettan, George and Sibi our little full timer.

By the way, do you want to know the real secret of this great harvest? There was a 24/7 perpetual adoration set up one week before the Youth Alive which lasted till 28th evening.

Yes the Lord continues to do His majestic works!

Hostel Retreat

Four day hostel retreat at SH Hostel concluded yesterday....

Around 200 inmates attended through out the program.
Anointing prayer by Fr. Manoj was so powerful that it didnt left any one without experiencing the power of His Spirit.

God has indeed touched many hearts and their little testimonies revealed how much they experienced the Love of God these days.

In a very short notice God used many like Martin, Dr. Priya, Daisy Aunty, Saira Chechi, Tommy... to give the best for Him.

Once again our Lord has proved how much He is ready to pour His Spirit on a little initiative of ours.

"To be with the Lord, let that be our great pleasure"

I know that I am not worthy enough to pen in these pages. But by His grace…….More than that he wanted me to, otherwise i would not have got this chance.

It was in 1998, that I was able to experience the truth that Jesus is a Living God and He is Alive. I always had a feeling that He is someone sitting very far and watching me from far afar. But then I understood he is nowhere else other than in our hearts. Since then, i knew in everything He is with me. A Loving God the father who knows only to Love, Love and to Love.

The verse that has touched me is, "Happy are those who has no doubts about Him". I think that is the greatest miracle too in my life. I know that i am only aware of lil things about Him, but that is everything for my Lord. Whenever i am taken through troubles, He used to strengthen me saying, " You are mine, i would not test you beyond the limit which you are not able to".

Till ninth standard, i was a very studious, serious girl who never used to talk much, even to my family members. But after experiencing my Lord, i should say that i changed as i really experienced the meaning of LOVE. I started loving my parents, friends, especially my Teachers. And i started learning that there is no word called IMPOSSIBLE. Everything started becoming possible through Prayers (the ever greatest weapon). Most of the time i enjoyed being in fellowship, prayer groups etc. Because of which everyone started questioning my studies. But "If God is with us, then who can stand against us". Thus i became topper wherever i went. I know i am weak, but in His grace i am strong and everyone started saying "We never felt that you are this brilliant". But only my Lord & me know the secret behind....:-)

There has been times for me where i really went down, deeply depressed, highly tempted, even i had fallen in many pits which the other one has made, but my Lord never left me alone.... I always used to think "Why He is loving me like this, why he should do that, who am i for Him???". The only response is a smile from him and that is it. That answers all my questions and clears all my doubts. That is our God, our Living Word.

At start of my spiritual life, i thought it would be a great trouble to have a christian life (as i heard only of sacrifices, pains, testing etc). But later on, He started teaching me to surrender and to enjoy life in every sense. We need to have Fun, Studies, Prayer life, Job everything...Only thing is that we need to have balance between all these..Because once we miss this, we are missing it for our whole life. Be always busy in loving each other and doing things for Him so that there would not be any time left for the other one to attack us.

Thanks a lot for hearing me through this writing. May God bless all of us to enjoy our life with Him. "My Lord, You are a wonder, You are a miracle. I am happy that you chose me too to experience Your Love. Lord bless me and my fellow beings, always to be yours and to never forget your Love. Whatever happens in life, give us the grace to accept it without complaint".

Service Team Reconstitution

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Greetings to you all in Jesus Name!

After long days of Adoration before the Holy Eucharist and prayers of Rosary by the youth, elders, Priests and Religious,
we have a wonderful service team in Trivandrum.

There was less clarity among many of the leaders, while thinking about Service Team.
But, the leaders made their personal and group prayers stronger. Over the time, a strong belt of prayer protection was built. Slowly, the plant grew to a big tree to bear the fruit- the Service team.
And.. to specifically say, it was safe in the hands of Mother Mary.

Let me put forward a few things for you to ponder...
These days, the power of Holy Eucharistic Adoration became real to us.
And we continue to arrange Eucharistic Adorations everywhere.
Pope Benedict In his first message after becoming pope, he applied that lesson to the Eucharist.
“I ask everyone in the coming months to intensify love and devotion for Jesus in the Eucharist.”
Therefore, the first request the Service Team wishes to place before you is to intensify the Eucharistic Adoration.

Please pray for the team. The team is meant only to serve and your prayers will empower them and you will correct them.

May Mary, Mother of Beautiful Love, guide the team. Devoting this team to the heart of Mother Mary!
Blessed be God Who called them to be the humble servants of His Vineyard!

JY Audio Visual at AsIPA General Body

Lets together thank our Lord for the wonderful opportunity He has given us to be on stage at AsIPA international gathering.

Just amazed to look back and see how the Lord has lead on each point... when we struggled to make it.

Especially would love to thank Umesh, Dino and Cinoj who took pain to come from centre an be with us... they might have had tough time managing the in experienced audio visual team we have... but the Lord really used them give out our best...

We got lot of appreciation pouring in after our program.
Could even hear one group Bangladesh delegates cheering us shouting 'Jesus Youth Zindabad'

Jesus Youth Convention

We are on the peak time planning and praying about the Mega convention we are having in Jan 2007.

Already a program committee has been formed and they are sitting to discern the whole structure of the convention. Requesting all your sincere prayers, that everything will be revealed to them.

We are aiming a target of more than 1500 youth.
Venue to hold such a big crowd is yet another concern.

As we advance in prayer, hope the our Lord will direct us to hold this event in the most anointing manner.

Continue in prayers through the powerful intercession of St. Antony.
